Food fortification programs need expansion and strengthening. Fortifying commonly consumed items like wheat flour, rice, and cooking oil could significantly improve population-wide vitamin D levels.

Public awareness campaigns are essential to shift perceptions about moderate sun exposure and educate people about the importance of vitamin D for health. Workplace policies that encourage outdoor breaks and school programs promoting outdoor activities can also help.

Regular screening, particularly for high-risk groups including pregnant women, children, elderly individuals, and those with chronic diseases, can help identify and address deficiencies early.
